Residents are encouraged to drop in anytime. The friendly staff and volunteers will be on hand to guide participants through the activities and ensure everyone feels welcome and supported.

This fun and engaging event is designed to support residents aged 60+ to maintain strength, balance, and independence. Guests can enjoy a wide range of free health and wellbeing activities throughout the day, including:

  • Taster Otago strength & balance classes from 10.15 am until 2 pm.
  • Expert advice from a physiotherapist
  • On-the-spot blood pressure checks
  • Balance testing with the Health Outreach Team
  • Access to a free swim session

This one-day event has been carefully coordinated by Stay Steady and Active in partnership with the Hounslow Borough Based Partnership, local health services, and community organisations. All activities are tailored for the over 60s and are designed to be supportive, social, and suitable for all fitness levels.

Resident Margaret, aged 90, recently attended a Stay Steady and Active event, where she did a simple balance test with the Hounslow Health Outreach Team.

The test highlighted that Margaret would benefit from clinical support from the West London NHS Falls Prevention & Bone Health Service, and a referral was made on the day.

Margaret was incredibly grateful for the help and support she received at the event, and she found out about a range of support services that could help her mobility needs.

The Stay Steady and Active programme helps older adults remain active, reduce the risk of falls, and feel more confident in their daily movement. It offers:

  • A free 12-week strength and balance programme
  • Regular exercise and dance classes
  • Signposting to local physical activity opportunities
  • A take-home Staying Steady balance test to help identify if further support is needed
